A Book Review & A Serious Warning From Vince
“Hi Dianne. I just finished reading the book, “Mind Over Medicine,” and it was a very good book. The power of the mind is absolutely fascinating. I enjoyed it and learned a lot. I also downloaded Dr. Rankin’s “Self-Healing Tool Kit,” and “Guided Meditations,” and I have concerns. She gives a huge amount of exercises and questions to do and answer in order to diagnose yourself, prescribe yourself, and work on improving your health and wellness. I want to go through all the exercises and questions and work on them, but Dr. Rankin warns that you must have someone (or several people) with you when you do it. This is because it will cause a lot to come up (including hurts, grief, trauma, fears, etc…), and it’s not safe to do alone. You need people who will help you through it, or it can be dangerous.

This reminds me of a time, maybe 4 years ago or so, when I was doing well, but I wanted to get closer to the Great I Am and
rededicate myself to Christ. I made an appointment with two elders in the Christian Church. They set me up to do this special spiritual procedure, whereby I closed my eyes, and they guided me through visualization and asked me a whole bunch of questions.
These questions related to all areas of my life, and they began with childhood. During this spiritual procedure, I answered the
questions, and I told them about myself and my experiences. One by one… whatever things they found that needed to be rebuked,
forgiven, prayed about, asked Father God about… they did and these things were then given over to Father God. It was a combination of visualization and prayer, casting out evil, and dedicating and turning over every area of my life to Christ and the Great I Am.
During this 3 to 4 hour session with them, I broke down terribly as all types of trauma and pain came up. Within one week of this
procedure, I was completely disabled and in a full-time hospitalization program for depression.

I went from feeling well to being completely disabled and not being able to function at all. Now, that was not the only thing going on at the time, as I was in a very unhealthy relationship for about 5 years, suffering with chronic pain, I was drowning in debt, losing my home and had no idea where I was going to live or what I was going to do. However, something happened going through that spiritual practice that really sent me into a downward spiral very quickly and I couldn’t pull out of it. I don’t know how else to explain it. It brought up a lot of different trauma that I experienced in my life, like it was all happening all over again, and all at the same time. Maybe it had something to do with evil spirits attacking me when they saw an opening, I don’t know. I’m thinking it may be a lot safer for me to avoid all of Dr. Rankin’s exercises and questions, and instead, practice some meditation for the relaxation response. Also, I think that it’s a good idea to do what you encouraged me to do the other day. Remember how you suggested that I work on a vision board using pictures and continually speaking what I want, and visualizing what I want, and continuing to practice turning my self talk towards the positive, and practice believing some of the things I want and need will come into existence in accordance to the Will of the Heavenly Father. Anyway, I just wanted to update you and say I really enjoyed
the book, I learned a lot, but I don’t think it’s wise for me to do the specific questions for diagnosis and prescription that Dr.
Lissa Rankin advises, but I will practice eliciting the relaxation response more, and, doing the other things we talked about. Your
